This lovely old box was given to me by a dear friend and it's so satisfying to make new use of it. I love stitching birds and I think this may be my favourite. I especially liked stitching the speckles on his tummy.
Just such a lovely, lovely box. If it were mine, I'd store a few found feathers in it when I'm lucky enough to find them while walking outside. Your work truly is a gentle, soothing inspiration.
This is the most beautiful bird you have worked - stunning and reminds us of the dawn chorus. My husband wonders why you chose that particular key in the music?
Oh, I love it! You really are an artist, using fabric and thread in place of canvas and paints. I especially like the shading on his back, and the speckles, of course. What joy it would be to open this as a daily affirmation. Wonderful!

Thank you for all of your kind and generous comments - I really appreciate them. There was no particular method in the musical notes I chose for this piece Andy Lloyd Williams, although I did like the inclusion of the italian phrase 'colla voce'. Christine x
Do you have a pattern for this beautiful embroidered design? I would love to make a bird like it. I am new to your blog, and I have to say I LOVE everything I am seeing here. I too collect bits of fabrics, laces, buttons, stones, feathers and little bits of things, but then never know what to do with them. You are giving me many great ideas! Thank you!

Your embroidery work is stunning. If this style had been fashionable 50 years ago, I think we would ALL still be embroidering :)
