I shared details of this piece back in
this post of 2011 but I never showed you the whole thing. Again this is something I made for myself, one of a number of pieces like this. Everything I make is meaningful to me but some more so than others, maybe that's why I was reluctant to show you before now.....here are some details again. There was a lot of meditative slow stitching in this one...do you find stitching a source of solace too?

Yes....I "stitch myself better".
All my work comes from something deep within....I have been stitching my way through chemotherapy for the last 6 months and may be able to get back to my blog soon, but it had to take a back seat while I just stitched and became still.
I have a piece in the EAST exhibition at the Knitting & Stitching show in October, and the word "solace" is in the title of it.
I love your work, there are similarities to mine, which I think comes more from what is inside, rather than outside influences....I prefer not to look at many other artists work as I don't want external influences, and yest we need to see the work of others.
This is a lovely piece...I have a vast quantity of stitched crosses in my piece for the show.
Ellen.
The feeling of the cloth in your hands, the rhythm of stitching as we breath .........peace pure peace xxx
Gorgeous stitching Christine, I too find it hard to part with some pieces. Xx

I appreciate all of your heartfelt comments, thankyou.
Ellen, I'm so glad stitching gives you solace and stillness at such a challenging time. I hope I get to see your work at the Knitting and Stitching show.

Hello Ellen,
I love your work ... and yes I agree, stitching is meditation and peace. You certainly know the sentence "Count your blessings, count your stitches" it is one of my favorite. I especially stitch with seed beads, it is a great source of meditation for me. God bless you ? XOXO
Quilting, especially, I find very meditative. And any form of hand stitching is soothing. I know if I haven't been able to stitch for a day or two I get withdrawal symptoms!
Hand stitching is so comforting, and I'm glad it is providing you with some solace just when you need it.
how lovely this is. your work whispers to me," really it ……its ok, everything is as it should be"
i love to stitch, slowly, centering, it calls to me and comforts me.
thank you for sharing your work with us.
Yes most definitely xx
