Number 678
You may have guessed there is a story behind this piece.....where we live is quite rural and my husband is always finding creatures to rescue, rabbits, owls, exhausted racing pigeons....he came across an injured blackbird, it was unable to get up and fly and was about to be run over, as it was lying in the middle of a busy main road. He managed to pick it up (much to the annoyance of some of the other drivers!) and he took it to our local wildlife rescue centre where they nursed the bird back to health and set it free. We were given a reference number for our bird so we could phone and see how it was, number 678. I made this piece to remember him by, wherever he is now......

You both are stars! I just had loads of feathers today from the hen house but did not do anything with them. For once you have a jet black eye catcher on your beautiful creation :-). What a stunning reminder of a special day.
Absolutely love it Christine.
Might have something to do with the fact that I find the Crow a most mystical creature...

Really Beautiful xx
Gorgeous needlework and honors your husband's rescue work.
What a stunning embroidery of the blackbird. It reminds me of the blackbird that leads the dawn chorus in early summer. Thank you: it does the heart good!
What a gorgeous remembrance.

This is so precious and wonderful!
This is just amazing, so beautiful - thank you for sharing!
I just found your blog and I am thrilled!
Merry Christmas!
New to the blogging world and finding your blog of wondrous treasures has opened up a Pandora’s box. Not being an Art college graduate allows your love, feelings and spontaneity particularly for all things old, to shine through. The words and quotes express the essence of life and are very supportive. Just love the tone on tone, but Mr Blackbird is my favourite, a part of my childhood, along with the Sylko and Coates cotton reels. Think there may be some still hiding in a cupboard.
This is beautiful ♥️
