She believed she could so she did

This is similar to this piece I made, but much smaller. The box is covered in pages from 'Women Poets'.

Such a simple phrase but so hard to put into practice sometimes -  it's good to be reminded that things can sometimes be that simple...

Daphne

This is just a tiny little peep at the piece I've been making for the Group Gathering project I'm involved in called 'Daphne's Glove'.

The pieces, from all twelve of the artists involved,  will be exhibited later on this year. You can find all the details about the exhibition and the project on the Group Gathering website.

During the exhibition there will be a series of workshops taking place, led by some of the artists involved. I'll be leading a workshop called 'Remember Me'. You can find the details for all of the workshops here.

I'm so looking forward to showing you the whole piece!

This and that

A couple of weeks ago I spent a wonderful weekend as a guest tutor at Hope and Elvis,  Louise Presley's amazing and inspiring studio. It was lovely to spend time in the company of such lovely ladies and be fed such delicious food! I thought I'd share a taste of the weekend with you. If you'd like to see more, two of the ladies who came to the workshops have written blog posts about it. You can read them here and here.

If you're interested in coming to a workshop with me, I will be at Sew Not Strawberry Jam in Kent on 11th and 12 July and also at Indigo Moon in Montogomery, Powys, Wales on 19th September. I'll also be teaching another workshop in October - I'll tell you about that in my next post.

At the moment I'm busy making for the Selvedge Magazine Spring Fair in Stroud on 16th May, The fair takes place during the annual Stroud International Textile Festival  you can have a look at all the events that are taking place here.

Lastly, I'm putting the finishing touches to my 'Daphne's Glove' piece, This is the second Group Gathering project I've been involved in and it's wonderful to see the progress and the very different approaches of all the artists involved. You can read about it all and see work in progress on the Group Gathering blog and facebook pages.

That's all for now! x

the quieter you become, the more you can hear

Apt words for a busy mind. I find experiencing nature always brings some much needed stillness.

sweet heart

This is my version of a sweet heart pin cushion, like this one from the Imperial War Museum. I've mounted mine in a box covered with vintage letters, the old handwriting is so beautiful.
