This and that

A couple of weeks ago I spent a wonderful weekend as a guest tutor at Hope and Elvis,  Louise Presley's amazing and inspiring studio. It was lovely to spend time in the company of such lovely ladies and be fed such delicious food! I thought I'd share a taste of the weekend with you. If you'd like to see more, two of the ladies who came to the workshops have written blog posts about it. You can read them here and here.

If you're interested in coming to a workshop with me, I will be at Sew Not Strawberry Jam in Kent on 11th and 12 July and also at Indigo Moon in Montogomery, Powys, Wales on 19th September. I'll also be teaching another workshop in October - I'll tell you about that in my next post.

At the moment I'm busy making for the Selvedge Magazine Spring Fair in Stroud on 16th May, The fair takes place during the annual Stroud International Textile Festival  you can have a look at all the events that are taking place here.

Lastly, I'm putting the finishing touches to my 'Daphne's Glove' piece, This is the second Group Gathering project I've been involved in and it's wonderful to see the progress and the very different approaches of all the artists involved. You can read about it all and see work in progress on the Group Gathering blog and facebook pages.

That's all for now! x

the quieter you become, the more you can hear

Apt words for a busy mind. I find experiencing nature always brings some much needed stillness.

sweet heart

This is my version of a sweet heart pin cushion, like this one from the Imperial War Museum. I've mounted mine in a box covered with vintage letters, the old handwriting is so beautiful.

'til needle, thread and fabric meet

Another huswif, stitched with some favourite words...

huswif

I'm busy making for my next fair on 16th May. It is the Selvedge Spring Fair in Stroud. I love stitching these sewing huswifs, filled with vintage finds....this one is made from a wonderfully soft and slightly threadbare piece of vintage quilt. I have more of it left so it will probably pop up on some other makes. It also has an uncharacteristic bit of  bright colour, but the vintage velvet milinery flower seemed too perfect not to use.

On another note, you might like to know there is a little interview with me in the Spring issue of Hoop-la Magazine.
