Another little reminder....

I had this little ring box for a while and knew I wanted to do something with it. It is worn and soft and has a lovely patina from years of being handled. My yoga teacher tells us to 'let go' at the physical and psychological level. We hold on to so much that isn't helpful to us. It's hard for me to remember to do this outside of my yoga class though, so this is my little reminder.....

Reminders

I made these little fabric tokens for myself several years ago now. They were a source of comfort at a difficult time. The one in the middle is made from a tiny vintage collar and the other two are epaulettes from an old shirt, which of course, being me, I couldn't throw away. Words are very powerful, they can hurt, they can comfort and inspire and remind you of things that are important. Lots of people collect words, they may keep a notebook of phrases or quotes that mean something to them or nowadays most people will have a Pinterest board full of inspiring words. I like to stitch words that are important to me.

More dolls....

Another couple of dolls to show you, again dressed in vintage fabrics, including antique linens, a vintage silk handkerchief and part of the bodice of a vintage baby dress. For those who might cringe at me cutting up these pieces, the hankie was badly stained and the baby's bodice very moth eaten.  I would avoid using something too precious, expensive or in too good a condition to cut into and besides it gives me pleasure to see these things put to a new use and enjoyed instead of them languishing in a drawer somewhere.....

New dolls....

I made four new dolls for the Cotswold Vintage Fair. Here are two of them. I used my very special vintage fabrics to make their clothes, including fabrics from a vintage quilt, a vintage kimono and a hand made lace cuff. Each doll I make is unique. I can never tell what kind of personality they are going to have until I paint their faces. I struggle to part with them and would secretly like to keep them all, although I never give them names, I'm not sure why. I hope you like them.
